Bringing Midwifery Home
Did you know that it's standard for people who birth with a midwife to receive postpartum care visits in their home? Well, The BMHCE believes that everyone should have access to midwifery care, including people who give birth in a hospital. Midwives are licensed by the Medical Board of California (the same board that licenses medical doctors) to provide comprehensive care prenatally, during labor and birth and in postpartum. The BMHCE now has a team of licensed Black midwives ready to provide clinical postpartum care to you and your baby in your home during the first 3 weeks postpartum.
BMHCE families will receive two in-home visits from one of our midwives to assess the health and wellbeing of the mom and the baby including: lab work, taking vitals, helping with lactation/feeding and screening for any postpartum complications like jaundice, infection and postpartum depression.
