As a BMHCE client, you have access to lactation classes and private lactation consultations FREE of charge. Services are available as virtual or in-home sessions. Please click the link below to register for lactation support.

Postpartum Sister Circle
Connect with other Black parents to share your experiences, fears, and successes. Participate in bonding activities, breastfeeding support, and infant development education.

This is a nurturing space for culturally rooted mental and emotional wellness, including: mindfulness, trauma-informed care, art, music, dance, and storytelling
Pelvic Floor Physical Therapy
As a BMHCE participant, you will receive FREE sessions from a licensed physical therapist, Dr. Sydney Curls. This care option is available to all BMHCE clients that are either pregnant or within the first 6 months of their postpartum journey. Your allotted sessions can be split between your prenatal and postpartum period.
This is a highly anticipated program. Please be aware there is a waitlist for interested participants. Dr. Curls will contact you when a slot is available.
Postpartum Doula Support
BMHCE provides postpartum doula support up to 15 hours from an assigned doula. You can utilize those hours at your discretion to support you during your postpartum journey.
A postpartum doula is there to help a new family in those first days and weeks after bringing home a new baby. This non-medical care includes support in the areas of
infant care and development,
breast/chestfeeding support,
bottle feeding support,
normal postpartum and cesarean recovery,
postpartum blues & depression self-screenings, facilitation of bonding, and
small snack and meal preparation

Completed BMHCE Intake assessment
Within 1 year postpartum
Mental Health Support
BMHCE works in partnership with Southern California Counseling Center to provide mental health support to our participants. The support options available are
1-on-1 counseling
couples counseling, and
family counseling.
You are eligible for up to 12 sessions both in-person and virtually.
Group Prenatal Care
BMHCE partners with local birthworkers to provide prenatal and postpartum midwifery care to Black Birthing persons in LA County. As a participant of this program, you are given access to 1-2 hour group sessions with your prenatal provider. You are not required to birth with any of the providers. This care can complement your current birth plan, including hospital-based and midwifery-based care.
